Thuane Reis, originally from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, is 28 years old and has 10 years of experience in the beauty and cosmetics industry. She shares her journey as an entrepreneur, explaining how she started Be You Concept in Portugal, faced challenges, and found motivation to collaborate with Women’s Plus.

Career and Business

 

Can you tell us a bit about your journey as a beautician and what motivated you to start your own business, Be You Concept?

I started in the aesthetics field when I moved to Portugal. In Brazil, I already worked in the beauty industry but as a commercial director for multinational companies. Knowing that the sales strategy and experience in Portugal differ greatly from Brazil, and having often been advised by my clients to enter the aesthetics field because they saw this talent in me, I decided to take the risk and fell in love with the field. I love taking care of people, and that is what drives me.

What motivated me to open my own business was the desire to be recognized and to provide better opportunities for immigrants who come to this country seeking opportunities. I wanted to create a healthy and comfortable environment where they could develop their skills. Additionally, having the creative freedom and ability to innovate to deliver the best to my clients was a significant motivator.

 

I started my business from scratch in a small room inside a beauty salon where I did all the treatments by myself. Initially, having just moved to Cascais, it was challenging to boost the business. However, it always went very well because people liked the concept and the service offered. I always strive to provide an experience and be close to my clients. I had a lot of support and encouragement, and now, after two years, we are about to open our second store.

 

What motivated you to partner with Women’s Plus and offer special discounts for women?

I grew up in a family where my mother was a single parent, and I always saw her face the challenges of a sexist society with few opportunities for women, especially in her condition. But she made our lives happen and fought tooth and nail, and I admire all the women who day after day prove their resilience, fight for their dreams and goals. I see in Women’s + a project that embodies the spirit of Be You and makes perfect sense to have my support.

How do you believe this partnership can benefit the women who follow the Women’s Plus Project?

Every woman deserves care, a treat, and to feel good about herself and have her self-esteem elevated. It is true that appearance is not everything, but when we feel self-confident (and appearance and well-being play a role in this), everything goes better. We can stand out, radiate positivity, and feel more powerful to achieve our goals!

You encourage and train women to have a professional career in the beauty industry. Can you tell us more about this work and the impact it has had?

Yes, it’s true. From the beginning of my project, I thought about my “why,” my reason for carrying this project forward. I understood that, like most people, I wanted to make a difference in society. I saw within my business the opportunity to uplift others, working with them, sharing my knowledge so they can develop skills and grow. The truth is, if we touch at least one life and that person pays it forward, that’s where our chain of goodness begins.

 

What are the main pieces of advice you give to women starting a career in the beauty industry?

Work with love, dedicate yourself to your clients, and deliver a personalized service that meets their needs. Adaptation and empathy are the keys to carving out your space and being recognized for your excellent work.

 

 

Be You Concept

 

Can you tell us more about the services and products that Be You Concept offers?

At Be You, we offer a variety of services including manicure and pedicure, eye beautification treatments such as threading, lash lifting, and nano-pigmentation of eyebrows and lips. We also provide facial and body treatments and laser hair removal, offering a complete wellness and care experience.

 

What are your future plans for Be You Concept, especially with the opening of the new space?

My goal is to consolidate a stable team and continue working towards continuous growth in a gradual and organic way. Over time, I aim to participate and contribute positively to our community more and more.
